Approval of Minutes from Previous Meeting

Vote to approve minutes of both the February and March board meetings.

Yes: 5

No: 0

Result: Passed

Financials

  • Company that donated $1k wanted a receipt. We filled one out and sent it. They contacted us with something that needed to be changed, we made the corrections and sent it again.

  • We should contact the rocket competition kids and see if there's anything we can do for them this year.

  • Meg deposited the CD that we had trouble cashing out, back in our bank account.

  • We're still unclear whether or not we paid Darren for the SawStop table saw. We need to check on that with Treasurer.

Current Members: 81

  • Number of Full Members: 23

  • Some old members still have their stuff here and say they're planning to join back up.

Space Updates

SHR request was received by board. After some discussion, voted to offer person 50% discount for 6 months.

Result: Passed

  • A member asked if the "Cancel" membership button online is broken, but other members have used it successfully and it's part of Shopify's code, not something we coded.

3D Printing Stewards asked for another Prusa Core1 upgrade kit for $650 from general funds.

Result: Passed

  • Jake is planning to bring in a color indexed changer for one of the Prusa Core1 3D printers.

  • The winder for the air hose in the Auto Shop has broken. The board discussed possible options including:

    • replacing the winding device

    • running metal pipe from the air compressor over to the Metal Shop

    • getting a longer air hose that would reach to the Metal Shop without having to add additional hose (which is what the Metal Shop does now.)

  • The dumpster outside in the courtyard seems to be slowly moving closer to our driveway every time it's emptied. Dave is planning to paint a box on the ground around it so the garbage men return it to the right spot.

  • Someone asked if they could use the aluminum scraps in the courtyard. The knife guys say they're going to use it. (Note from the future: All the aluminum scraps got stolen one night when the gate was left open.)

  • Keycards for new members are now stored in a slick 3D printed box, rather than the old cardboard one.

  • Matt, one of our directors, still needs access to edit the tools portion of our website.

Electrician Discussion

  • One member is still talking about installing a computer lab of sorts (see Marcharrow-up-right). While nothing has been definitively decided on that yet, the first step will be hiring an electrician to come out and give us a quote for installing a larger circuit for the kitchenette/server room.

  • Dave still needs to Jerry to make sure he'd be okay with this.

  • The main electrical panel is in the Laser room. It doesn't have room for any more circuits so new ones would need to be added from the sub panel in the Wood Shop.

  • There's no call for more circuits to the Wood Shop

  • The new laser has been having some trouble flipping breakers. It's now on it's own dedicated 20amp circuit - well, we think it is. Tracing exactly where all of the circuits go is another thing we want an electrician to do.

  • Handy tip: with an Apple watch camera tied to your phone, you can set the camera up in a room and then flip the breakers until you see the lights in that room go off.

Meeting Adjourned

  • Rush is having a reunion tour this summer! The fact that this came up tells you something about the average age of the board of directors.

  • Fun Fact: According to an actual lawyer, field sobriety tests are designed to be failed.
